Welcome to James K. Polk Lodge's home on the Internet. While our Website was developed with the intent to keep our members informed of current events, it is also meant to be enjoyed by anyone who has an interest in the world of Freemasonry, wheter it is out of casual curiosity or of a more scholary intent.
James K. Polk Lodge was chartered by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina on April 20, 1983. WB James V. Wilson was the first Master of the Lodge which met above an old drug store on Main Street in Pineville. There were 25 chartered members. The lodge moved a few years later to it's next location at 404 Dover Street, the former city hall. The lodge moved in July 2005 to it's new lodge building at 900 Hill Street on what is commonly known in Pineville as "Rabbit Hill". The location is about four blocks south of the former location adjacent to the Cone Mills property. Today the lodge has over 130 members and supports the Grand Lodge of North Carolina Masonic Charities; the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro, the Childrens' Home at Oxford and the Masonic Foundation. The lodge provides local charity to persons in need, supports the Pineville Community Athletic Association and provides college scholarships to Pineville residents. Lodge members raise money for it's charities by conducting fish frys, bar-b-ques, and other meal projects and an annual golf tournament.
